Talisman Available For iOS Devices!

I was happy to be cruis­ing thru my App­Shop­per app when I ran across that Thumb­Star Games has cre­ated an iOS ver­sion of one of my favorite board games and work­ing on a PC ver­sion that’s even big­ger and will even­tu­ally incor­po­rate the expansions.

‘Tal­is­man is a game in which you take on the role of a heroic adven­turer, build­ing up your strength, wis­dom, and wealth in a quest for glory. Tal­is­man Pro­logue HD brings all the fun of the clas­sic board game and more to the dig­i­tal realm. Tal­is­man Pro­logue HD is the first release in this excit­ing adap­ta­tion of the clas­sic board game.

The leg­end begins with a single-player series of adven­tures designed to invite both vet­er­ans and new­com­ers to explore the land of Tal­is­man. While mul­ti­player game­play will be avail­able in upcom­ing expan­sions, Tal­is­man Pro­logue HD focuses on cre­at­ing nar­ra­tive depth through its single-player cam­paigns. The story unfolds as the player rolls dice to move around the outer, mid­dle, and inner regions of the board. Each space will require the player to draw a card or resolve a spe­cial effect, lead­ing your hero to encounter mon­sters, dis­cover friendly fol­low­ers, and gather treasure.

While Tal­is­man Pro­logue HD uses the rules of the board game, there are some dif­fer­ences in the game­play. The biggest new addi­tion to the game is the intro­duc­tion of quests. In the clas­sic board game of Tal­is­man, the goal is to reach the Crown of Com­mand and claim it. In order to pro­vide a var­ied, rich, and story-focused expe­ri­ence each time you play Tal­is­man Pro­logue HD, you play one of fifty unique quests for each of its ten char­ac­ters. The quests have goals that the player must com­plete in order to lead his hero to vic­tory. You may be tasked with sav­ing a damsel in dis­tress, recov­er­ing a pow­er­ful arti­fact of leg­end, or fend­ing off an immense horde of monsters!’

The game is only $4.99 and is a uni­ver­sal app for both the iPad and iPhone. I’m really look­ing for­ward to see what other board games they can cre­ate.

2 Collections Complete…Finally!

Yay! I Finally get to put some­thing in the Game sec­tion

I was able to com­plete 2 game sets today with the addi­tion of the Tal­is­man (4R) The City and The Blood Moon expan­sions. I was also able to go ahead and pickup the fourth (actu­ally the pre­quel) to the God of War series, Ascen­sion, for my PS3.

While I don’t have a lot of time for play­ing games, there are cer­tain board game sets that I have been try­ing to stay on top of — these are Tal­is­man (4R), Arkham Hor­ror and Man­sions of Mad­ness. Video games include the ever pop­u­lar Mario, God of War and Bioshock series (I still need to get a hold of Infi­nite to com­plete that set).

I’ve played all sorts of games through­out the years but didn’t really start to sink my teeth in until I started play­ing Advanced Dun­geons and Drag­ons (1e). This is what really started it for me. My favorite series of Adven­tures to run were pri­mar­ily the Scourge of The Slave Lords and Queen of the Spi­ders since they kind of fell hand in hand. Now, mind you, I used to run the mod­ules before they com­piled them into the sets they have now — but they were just as good.

Any­hoo — I do plan on adding more con­tent into the site — mainly focus­ing on the game mate­ri­als that I have listed. There is so much out there and I just need to kind of con­cen­trate on a few — no site can cover every­thing about every­thing.
